Today’s featured art is Balance II - Dragonfly by Cassie Schilliger

This is a gorgeous close-up of a live dragonfly from the rear so we do not see it’s eyes. The contrast between the dragonfly and the leaf are a master stroke of genius of nature and the photographer’s great eye and steady hand and enormous patience.

Why enormous patience? Dragonflies are not the easiest insect to photograph! I like the fact the far background is blurred and softened so it does not compete with the dragonfly on a leaf.

The wings are sheer gossamer magic in this photo and remind me of a spider web - they are very delicate looking and make me wonder how they stand up to the rigors of weather and all the flying dragonflies do.

Today’s featured art is Fall Elf & Dragon by Nina Bolen

The green dragon is tiny and perched atop an Elf’s shoulder watching the leaves fall - the mat is a good color to surround the image and the dark frame sets off the dark outlines quite well. The entire presentation is well thought out. This would be a good portrait wall hanging for a child or an adult to enjoy.

I like the red hair for the elf - it has a nice touch of reality to have fall leaves with the colors echoed in the figure and dragon - it moves my eye around and through the picture.

I love the stark white background - it really makes the Elf girl stand out and the green dragon is part of the circle motion I see. Very well done and I like the frame / mat choices - but at Imagekind, you can choose the mat and frame you would like to fit your home or office.
